First Look at Robert Eggers' Nosferatu Unveiled at CinemaCon 2024

On April 11, 2024, Universal Pictures revealed the first glimpses of Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers, during CinemaCon 2024.

The trailer opens with Lily-Rose Depp portraying Anna Harding, who calls out, "Come to me, feel my call" just before a hand grips her from behind the neck. She ominously adds, "Evil catches you from behind". In a particularly haunting scene, while bedridden in a hospital, she warns Willem Dafoe's character, sporting a thick white beard, that "he is coming for us".

Atmospheric shots of 19th-century Germany follow, showcasing a gothic castle, a chilling cemetery, and townsfolk carrying coffins.

One of the most striking visuals features the deformed hand of Nosferatu looming over the city as it is engulfed in shadow.

The trailer then shifts to Anna Harding's bloodied face, and Willem Dafoe rallying the crowd to confront a dark evil. We see him surrounded by thousands of rats in an ancient mausoleum. "We are here to meet... the vampire" Dafoe declares before opening an ancient coffin.

A profile shot of Nosferatu's face is briefly shown, though his full form remains obscured. The trailer culminates with Dafoe finally confronting the creature and chillingly uttering, "Nosferatu".

The cast includes Simon McBurney, Ralph Ineson, Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Emma Corrin (known for her role in The Crown).

The narrative of Nosferatu centers on the obsession between a tormented young woman (Depp) in 19th-century Germany and an ancient vampire from Transylvania (Skarsgard) who haunts her. Hoult plays the role of the woman's husband.
