Astrid Faces a Distressing Interrogation

At the police station, Martin questions Astrid, presenting her with the evidence against her. The young woman admits to orchestrating a scheme to embezzle money from the company where she worked alongside Gautier. She claims that after Gautier discovered her actions, he proposed they form a life insurance scam team. Astrid insists that she realized Gautier intended to betray her, prompting her to block a money transfer before fleeing to Sète, where Gautier eventually found her. However, Martin points out that there are no witnesses to corroborate her story.

Following this, Astrid is returned to her cell. Martin contacts Victoire, asking her to come to the station to visit her friend. Victoire pleads with Astrid to tell the truth for the sake of their friendship.

Astrid then agrees to meet with Martin again to clarify her account: after deciding to leave Sète without informing the girls, she returned home to retrieve some money. It was there that Gautier spotted her and began to follow her in his car. Astrid recounts that she stopped on the roadside to get some fresh air due to the heat, at which point Gautier allegedly confronted her. In an attempt to defend herself, she admits to having pushed him forcefully, causing him to tumble onto the rocks. Despite this, she asserts that he was still alive and threatening her, so she fled. Once again, no witnesses can confirm her narrative. During this exchange, Astrid suddenly suffers a malaise due to the heat, prompting Manon to alert Victoire, who was about to leave the station.

At the hospital, the staff is overwhelmed due to the heatwave. Victoire arrives with Astrid on a stretcher, where Chloé immediately takes charge and finds her a room. Soon after, Astrid's condition worsens, indicating acute renal failure, and she is quickly attended to by nurses. Noticing Victoire's distress, Chloé inquires about the depth of her concern for Astrid. Victoire reveals that Astrid had protected her from a potential assault during their teenage summer camp.

The Dauniers Set Off for Vacation
