Essen began the match with an aggressive 3-5-2 formation, applying pressure early and creating several chances, including two for Anna Wirnsberger. After surviving this initial wave of attacks, Frankfurt managed to score from a seemingly harmless situation. Mia Büchele took a corner kick that caught everyone off guard, curling directly into the net at the far post (8'). The celebration from the SGE was jubilant, while the Essen players appeared momentarily stunned.

However, the tide turned around the 13th minute, leading to a swift equalizer. Antonia Baaß threaded a pass to Laura Bröring, who skillfully navigated past Frankfurt defenders Eva Hell and Ronja Schaer to score from the left side (17').
