Real Madrid's Shift: Tchouaméni May Be on the Move for World Cup Star

Manchester United continues its quest for a central midfielder and is reportedly gaining momentum from Madrid, as Real Madrid appears willing to let go of Aurélien Tchouaméni.

The situation surrounding Tchouaméni, who is 26 and under contract until 2028, seemed settled when he agreed to a contract extension with Real in July, pushing his commitment to 2031. Manchester United previously had an £80 million offer rejected. However, the tides may be turning.

Mourinho's Change of Heart

According to The Sun, José Mourinho, now 63, is reconsidering his stance on Tchouaméni. Initially deemed unsellable, the midfielder's status has shifted. The catalyst for this change appears to be Rodri.

Rodri, the captain of Spain's World Cup-winning team, has reportedly become a key target for Real Madrid. The 30-year-old, who was named Player of the Tournament at the World Cup in the USA, is seen as a potential successor to Toni Kroos, who is 36. Rodri's current contract with Manchester City runs until 2027.

New Opportunities for United

Michael Carrick and Manchester United could stand to benefit from Rodri's potential move to the Bernabeu. While the club has already secured midfield reinforcements in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, they are still on the lookout for a dedicated defensive midfielder.

Casemiro, now 34, has transferred to Inter Miami, and Manuel Ugarte, 25, is facing a lengthy recovery from a severe knee injury sustained during the World Cup, making his future uncertain.

Tchouaméni remains Manchester United's top target, with the club reportedly prepared to match the £68 million ($80 million) fee that Real Madrid paid to Monaco for him in 2022.

The success of this potential transfer hinges on Manchester City, as Rodri is valued at approximately €100 million, according to The Sun.
