Financial Demands Could Be a Barrier

One potential reason for the lack of interest could be his financial expectations. Reports suggest that Goretzka is seeking an annual salary of around seven million euros net, along with a signing bonus of approximately ten million euros.

Despite there being no transfer fee involved, acquiring the former Bayern star would not come cheap. Additionally, Goretzka is now 31 years old, and he was unable to enhance his standing during the recent World Cup.

MLS Opportunity Rejected

The midfielder made only three brief appearances during the tournament. "Sport Bild" has also reported that Goretzka appeared somewhat discontented at times and distanced himself from the team.

A potential opportunity in Major League Soccer (MLS) recently emerged, with Chicago Fire reportedly expressing interest in Goretzka. There, he could have reunited with former Bayern teammate Robert Lewandowski.

However, Goretzka turned down this opportunity, as he remains focused on playing at the highest level within Europe.

Despite his experience and quality, which should keep him in demand, time is becoming a critical factor. The new season is set to begin soon in many European leagues, and Goretzka currently finds himself without a team or a regular pre-season training schedule.
