Isabel Gose Claims Silver at European Championships, Maya Werner Takes Bronze
Freestyle swimmer Isabel Gose wins silver in the 800 meters at the European Championships, while teammate Maya Werner secures bronze in Paris.
Isabel Gose continues to shine at the European Championships, adding a silver medal in the 800 meters to her impressive tally. The freestyle swimmer, who has already secured two golds in open water events, clocked in at 8:18.44 minutes, finishing just behind her long-time rival, Simona Quadarella from Italy, who took gold. Meanwhile, fellow German swimmer Maya Werner also made her mark by clinching the bronze medal in the same event at the Centre Aquatique Olympique in Paris.
Gose's silver marks her third medal at these championships, showcasing her versatility and endurance. Last week, she triumphed in the knockout sprint in the open water category and contributed to a gold medal win with the mixed relay team.
Entering the 800-meter final, Gose was the second-fastest qualifier. Reflecting on her experience in the pool, she expressed relief at having her own lane, saying, "It is nice to have my own lane again and not have to look ahead all the time to gauge my orientation." She emphasized her focus on taking each race as it comes and maximizing her recovery opportunities, a strategy that clearly paid off.
