"It was absolutely the right decision to push forward 400 meters from the finish and block the inside lane," he reflected in an interview with Sportschau. He struggled to find the words to express his feelings, saying, "Standing here with a medal is insane. You imagine what you would say in an interview and how great it would all sound, but now I don't even know what to say."

He admitted that he never envisioned such success in his career. "I never aimed to become a European champion. Five years ago, we were just happy to be setting personal bests. We thought that European and world champions were so far out of reach," the 25-year-old shared.
