Cosenza's Coppitelli Calls for Clarity Ahead of Season Start
Cosenza's coach Federico Coppitelli discusses the team's current challenges and the need for clarity as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Following a friendly match against Vibonese, Cosenza's head coach, Federico Coppitelli, openly addressed the challenges facing the team as they prepare for the upcoming official season. Speaking through the club's official channels, he emphasized the urgent need for decisive actions as the league kickoff approaches in just a few days.
Coppitelli pointed out that the current squad has yet to develop a cohesive team identity. He stated, “We have reached a point where precise evaluations need to be made together with the club and the sporting management. It’s time to establish a clear direction and understand the choices we need to pursue.”
The coach elaborated on the various individual situations within the team that still require resolution. “We have many players who are on different personal journeys, not always in sync with what our collective project should be. Today, we have a group of players, but we do not yet have a team in the full sense of the term. These issues need to be resolved quickly, as significant changes cannot be addressed when the championship is just around the corner.”
A crucial part of his discussion also revolved around team composition and the balance between younger players and seasoned veterans. Coppitelli reiterated that a competitive squad cannot rely solely on youth: “Young players are a vital resource, but they need to be supported by experienced players who possess leadership qualities and the ability to guide the group. Even Under-23 teams are not made up exclusively of young players; there need to be reference points, players who can serve as the backbone of the team.”
Coppitelli believes that upcoming market decisions will play a pivotal role in shaping the team. “We must carefully assess the value of players who have already left the club and those who might depart. It’s impossible to build a strategy without clear ideas, especially with the season starting so soon.”
In conclusion, the Cosenza coach called for maximum focus from everyone involved, urging unity and determination: “From now until the end of the week, we must define the direction to take with seriousness and conviction. Teams aiming for success must have not only technical skills but also mentality, sacrifice, and a sense of responsibility.”
