CinemaCon 2024 Unveils A Quiet Place: Day One and Twisters

On April 12, 2024, CinemaCon showcased an exciting glimpse into two highly anticipated films: A Quiet Place: Day One and Twisters, both set for release in late June and mid-July, respectively.

The prequel to A Quiet Place has been characterized as a sequel in the vein of Aliens, promising a narrative that is "bigger, scarier, and packed with action". An extended trailer reveals the initial encounter between Sam, played by Lupita Nyong'o, and Eric, portrayed by Joseph Quinn, as they strategize an escape from their devastated city. Unfortunately, they soon discover that their plans are thwarted by destroyed bridges, leaving them trapped. In a tense moment, an unknown assailant is attacked by a monster, leading to the chilling declaration: "It's the end of days. No more people. No more New York."

During the film's presentation, Nyong'o hinted at a storyline that is "more terrifying and engaging than ever".

Twisters: A Look at Unfinished Footage

Universal Pictures also treated attendees to unfinished scenes from Twisters, featuring a dramatic sequence where a rodeo is interrupted by a colossal tornado. The chaos unfolds as horses and bulls scatter, and a truck is lifted into the air. Glen Powell, who leads a team of storm chasers in the film, remarked, "Sometimes the old ways are better than the new." He added, "It's okay to be scared... fear is why we do this. You don’t confront fears, you embrace them."

The film's director, Lee Isaac Chung, known for his Oscar-nominated work on Minari, expressed his ambition to create a film that feels as realistic and immersive as possible. At CinemaCon, he shared his thoughts on the challenge of moving into a blockbuster project, stating, "Jumping to a tentpole film felt like the scariest possible thing I could do in my life. It felt like what it must feel like to face a giant tornado."

As the excitement builds for these upcoming releases, fans eagerly await further developments from both films.
