Brad Pitt's Hilarious On-Set Incident: A Story of Flatulence
Brad Pitt recalls a humorous incident from his early career where his commitment to realism led to a hilarious on-set disaster, causing sixty crew members to leave the filming location.

In the early days of his career, Brad Pitt aimed for absolute realism in his acting, only to find himself at the center of a comical disaster. This incident led to approximately sixty crew members having to vacate the set due to an embarrassing and hilarious situation.

Even the most celebrated stars are not immune to moments of sheer embarrassment. Last year, while promoting F1® LE FILM, Pitt recounted a particularly amusing anecdote from his early days in the industry. During the filming of one of his first feature films, a bout of overzealous dedication resulted in an unforgettable scene: an entire team forced to flee the set because of his flatulence.
A Scene Taken Too Seriously
On the podcast New Heights, Pitt revisited this unusual episode, as reported by Variety. At that time, he was working on one of his initial films, where his character, starved for days, was served a hearty dish of beans and bacon.
Determined to fully embody his role, Pitt made the decision to consume the entire dish with each take. "We were shooting a scene in this tiny café. There was the whole crew—about sixty people. It was hot. We were struggling to breathe," he recalled. "My character hadn’t eaten in days, and they served me a big plate of beans with bacon."
Pitt continued explaining his mindset during that moment: "I was in Method Acting mode, you know? I thought, ‘I’m going to do this right.’ I ate the entire plate. Second take, I ate it again. Third take, the same. Fourth take, again. And then... Oh no... It hit me."

An Olfactory Catastrophe on Set
After several plates of beans, the repercussions quickly became apparent. Trapped in his seat, Pitt could only wait for the moment to pass. "I couldn’t do anything. I was stuck in that chair. Nature took its course. Then it stopped. I thought, ‘Great, I made it!’ But suddenly, the whole crew... Something diabolical... Something descended upon the entire room, and they all fled the café."
According to his account, the odor was so unbearable that the entire technical team abandoned the café where the filming was taking place.
An Unnamed Film... But Easily Identifiable
While Pitt does not disclose the film's title, all clues point to Johnny Suede, released in 1991. In this film, he plays a small-time crook aspiring to be a singer, and there is indeed a scene where he eats a plate of beans, perfectly aligning with the actor's recollection!
