Aston Villa aims to loan João Palhinha, while Bayern Munich seeks a permanent transfer. Negotiations are ongoing.

Bayern and Aston Villa Continue Negotiations for Palhinha

Aston Villa is keen on acquiring João Palhinha, 31, primarily through a loan deal. However, Bayern Munich has different intentions regarding the midfielder.

According to reports from kicker, the Bundesliga giants are currently in discussions with Aston Villa for a permanent transfer of Palhinha. While Villa prefers a loan arrangement, Bayern is focused on securing a sale.

Last summer, the Portuguese international was loaned to Tottenham Hotspur with an option to buy. The transfer agreement between the clubs did not pose an issue at the time; however, kicker suggests that the deal ultimately fell through due to Palhinha’s salary demands.

Kompany's Transparency

The sporting future of the former €50 million signing at Bayern looks bleak. With Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic nearing full fitness, Palhinha's opportunities in the midfield are diminishing.

He is reportedly among several players, including Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza, who are looking for new clubs. Even manager Vincent Kompany has been open about the situation during the Asia tour, which is unusual for him regarding such matters.

Villa Remains the Most Serious Contender

At Aston Villa, Palhinha is viewed as a top target by manager Unai Emery. The sporting director, Damián Vidagany, publicly confirmed the club's interest in early August.

So far, no concrete offers from other clubs that meet Bayern's valuation of €25 to €30 million have emerged. It is reported that Palhinha has already reached an agreement with Villa regarding personal terms.
