Roma Eyes Abde Ezzalzouli, But High Price Tag Poses Challenge

AS Roma has turned its attention to Abde Ezzalzouli, a 24-year-old winger currently at Real Betis. However, acquiring the Moroccan talent will not come cheap, as Betis has set a hefty price.

According to transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, Ezzalzouli is on Roma's radar, confirming earlier reports from the Italian newspaper Il Tempo. The Giallorossi have already expressed interest in the national player, signaling a potential move.

The main hurdle in this transfer is the asking price. Real Betis has placed a €60 million release clause on Ezzalzouli, a figure that Roma is reluctant to meet.

Betis had previously signed the Moroccan from FC Barcelona in 2023 for a mere €7.5 million. The Catalan club still retains a portion of the transfer rights, meaning they would benefit financially from any sale.

Stellar Season in Sevilla

Ezzalzouli is enjoying an outstanding season in Andalusia, featuring in 43 matches during the 2025/26 campaign. He has made a significant impact, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists.

Given his impressive performance, it's no surprise that several top clubs are pursuing the left winger. Aston Villa and Newcastle United have also been linked with the 24-year-old recently.

Barcelona's Interest Fades

There were also speculations regarding a return to FC Barcelona for Ezzalzouli. However, following the signings of players like Antonio Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, the Catalans seem to have no immediate need for additional attacking options on the wings.

At Roma, Ezzalzouli is reportedly viewed as an alternative to RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa. The critical question remains whether sporting director Frederic Massara will be willing to invest the €60 million required, a sum that is currently a significant challenge for the club.
