Although mathematically this isn’t a complete halving of her previous rank, Liutova's leap is impressive, especially considering the tournament awarded only 250 points to the winner.
On another front, Alexandra Eala has also made significant strides, climbing into the top 20 after her victory in Washington. Eala, who was already positioned at 28, gained 500 points from her final match against Jessica Pegula, elevating her to 20th place.
The current WTA rankings are still led by Aryna Sabalenka, who faces fierce competition in the coming weeks. Notably, Elena Rybakina is poised to challenge for the top spot, potentially overtaking Sabalenka.
Following closely in the rankings are Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff, who occupy the third and fourth positions, respectively, but currently lack the immediate opportunity to ascend to the number one rank.
