Despite having moments of control, they were unable to convert their chances into goals. Coach Torsten Lieberknecht expressed optimism about his squad, noting that they have a solid core of players returning from last season, which has allowed for tactical and systematic development during the summer.

"There is a healthy calm within the squad, and we have fewer uncertainties compared to last year. This has helped us progress tactically week by week," Lieberknecht stated.

Wolfsburg Viewed as Strong Promotion Contender

Despite the draw, Kaiserslautern enters the match as underdogs against the financially robust Wolfsburg side. Lieberknecht acknowledged the strength of their opponents, stating, "Wolfsburg has made strategic signings this summer. They are undoubtedly among the top favorites in the league due to the quality of their squad and their established structure."

Kaiserslautern's managing director, Thomas Hengen, regards Wolfsburg as the leading candidate for promotion. "When a club like VfL Wolfsburg can sign two players for around €14 million in a matter of days, it speaks volumes. They are the clear favorites for me," Hengen remarked.

He believes the league will be highly competitive, with half of the teams battling for survival and the other half vying for promotion. Kaiserslautern aims to be among the latter this season.
