We Know Timothée Chalamet's Next Film After Dune 3 and It's Another Sci-Fi!

After working together for Woody Allen, Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez reunite for the upcoming animated film from Illumination, "Not Alone".

Yesterday, in an Instagram story, Timothée Chalamet was preparing his fans for the announcement of a new project! We now know that it is the next film from Illumination - known for successful franchises like Despicable Me and Super Mario - as revealed by Universal, which shared the first poster of the feature film expected in 2027.

Titled Not Alone, this extraterrestrial film will be co-directed by three regulars of the studio: Eric Guillon (Despicable Me 3), Jonathan Del Val (The Secret Life of Pets 2), and Claire Dodgson, the chief editor of several Illumination films including Minions. It will allow Timothée Chalamet to reunite with Selena Gomez, another lead of the project, after A Rainy Day in New York by Woody Allen, released in 2019.

A Sci-Fi Film That Promises to Be Endearing

As Variety informs us, the actor who made waves earlier this year in Marty Supreme will lend his voice to Joe, "an introverted rocket mechanic leading a quiet life, alone," while the star of Only Murders in the Building will play Fran, a "brilliant astro-botanist who develops the world's very first plant-powered rocket."

The American site also shared the film's synopsis: "When Joe and Fran find themselves working together to prepare for the inaugural launch of this revolutionary rocket, sparks fly between them, but neither is particularly skilled at romantic relationships.

Life gets complicated when three extraterrestrials - tiny, mischievous, and adorable - take refuge with Joe. Dunk, Welly, and Shirm are on an interplanetary run, pursued by a zealous yet incompetent law enforcement agent named Zandro. The aliens decide that Fran's rocket could safely take them home."

A Ted Lasso Actor as the Villain

The three aliens will be voiced by Rob Brydon (Barbie), Diane Morgan (Mandy), and Jamie Demetriou (Cruella), while Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) will lend his voice to Zandro. Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris have also been announced in undisclosed roles.

This is not the first time Timothée Chalamet has participated in an animated project, as he voiced a character in his friend Kid Cudi's Entergalactic. Selena Gomez, on the other hand, has even more experience in this area, having voiced Sélénia in the American versions of Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard and Arthur 3: The War of Two Worlds, as well as the heroine in the Hotel Transylvania franchise.

Not Alone, April 16, 2027, in U.S. theaters.
