Interrogated during the 2026 Monte-Carlo Festival, Gwendoline Hamon and Alexandre Varga shared insights on the success of the series and their partnership!

Eleven years after its launch on France 3, Cassandre continues to attract millions of viewers to their screens! A true success that has not waned over the years.

In an interview with us at the 2026 Monte-Carlo Festival, Alexandre Varga and Gwendoline Hamon reflected on the popularity of the show, as well as the success of the duo formed by Cassandre and Roche, which is undeniably one of the cornerstones of the series. Here are their thoughts!

AlloCiné: It has now been 11 years since you started acting together. Do you remember your first meeting and how the first shoot went?

Gwendoline Hamon (Cassandre): I remember it very well! Alexandre Varga had auditioned, and I read with him. I read with four people, including him, at Françoise Ménidrey's. He was the one who got the part. He had longer, thicker, and darker hair. I would love to see the footage; we should ask Françoise!

How has your professional collaboration evolved over the years?

Gwendoline Hamon: We know each other inside out now, so we work very quickly and well together. We’ve had moments where we disagreed and argued, but that’s just like life. That’s what’s healthy: we care for each other a lot and we say everything. We are not just work colleagues; there is a life within all of this.

Alexandre Varga (Roche): Naturally, in 11 years, we share a lot, both professionally and personally. A true friendship has developed, a real complicity. Like in a couple, there are joyful moments and frictions, but we are always there for each other and we really get along well.

In your opinion, what contributes to the success of your duo in the series?

Alexandre Varga: Our complicity is certainly a big part of it. I also think about the quality of the series itself: the writing, the plots, our partners, the guests we receive... It’s a mix of everything. But yes, our complicity is palpable on screen, and it’s an endearing duo.

Gwendoline Hamon: We play well together. Even when we were arguing and couldn’t stand each other, we still played well together! When we don’t get along, it creates sparks on screen. Well, we’re not in that place anymore today, fortunately.

Is it the same for the longevity of the series?

Gwendoline Hamon: It’s thanks to the fact that the audience follows us, loves the series, and keeps asking for more. It’s an incredible fortune, a gift. If we are generous and invested, life rewards you. The audience senses that there is sincerity and that we are not faking it. It’s a very collective effort: the team, the production, the channel, the writers, the direction, and the actors. We communicate; it’s quite simple.

Alexandre Varga: We must not forget the technical team, as they are essential. Even though there are rotations, we maintain a solid core. They put us in good conditions; we know each other, we understand how everyone works and behaves on set. Working "in a family" with people we appreciate also shows on screen.
