Setback for Schalke's Gosens: New Signing Faces Extended Absence Due to Thigh Injury

Robin Gosens' childhood dream of playing for Schalke 04 has taken an unexpected turn. In his first match with the club, the former national team player suffered an injury that could sideline him for several weeks.

During a friendly against fourth-tier team Kassel, Gosens was subjected to a tough challenge early in the game. Although he initially continued to play, he was forced to leave the pitch in the 13th minute due to discomfort.

Injury Concerns for Gosens

What seemed like a minor setback has now escalated into a more serious concern. According to reports from "Bild," the winger is at risk of facing a lengthy absence because of a thigh injury. A definitive diagnosis is still pending, with further updates expected on Monday.

Having joined Schalke less than two weeks ago, Gosens will now miss a significant portion of the team’s preparation. It remains uncertain whether he will be fit in time for the season opener against FC Augsburg on August 30.

A lifelong Schalke fan, Gosens has previously expressed his desire to play for the club during his professional career. His dream became a reality after Schalke's promotion, following his transfer from AC Florence.
