Mourinho Calls for More Reinforcements: Real Madrid Boss Seeks Additional Top Signing

Real Madrid has made significant moves in the transfer market, but José Mourinho is reportedly not satisfied yet. The Portuguese manager is pushing for another central defender, and a familiar name has resurfaced on the club's radar.

Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, and Bernardo Silva have already been added to the squad, with negotiations ongoing for Rodri and Yan Diomande seemingly close to joining. Despite these acquisitions, Mourinho appears to believe that the squad still requires further strengthening.

The new head coach of Los Blancos aims to compete for every title in the upcoming season. He is keen to address perceived weaknesses within the team, particularly in the central defense, where he feels an additional top-tier player is needed alongside Konaté.

According to Diario SPORT, referencing COPE journalist Arancha Rodríguez, Real Madrid has not ruled out signing another central defender before the transfer window closes. It appears that Mourinho has explicitly requested this addition to bolster the defensive lineup.

While no specific name has been finalized yet, the club's management is keeping various options open. Alessandro Bastoni (27, under contract until 2028) has been frequently mentioned in recent weeks.

The Italian international from Inter Milan was previously a target for FC Barcelona, but the Catalan club withdrew their interest due to Inter's high demands.

Reports suggest that Inter is asking for around €70 million for the left-footed defender. His agent, Tullio Tinti, recently emphasized that Bastoni is "in every respect an Inter player."

In addition to Bastoni, Mourinho is also considering three other Portuguese players: Renato Veiga (Villarreal), Tomás Araújo (Benfica), and Rúben Dias (Manchester City). All three reportedly fit the manager's requirements.

Before any new signings can occur, however, an existing player must depart. Raúl Asencio (28) tops the list of potential exits. Mourinho has reportedly indicated to the defender that he does not feature in his plans moving forward. The homegrown talent is being linked with a move to Galatasaray.
