Catanzaro Holds Internal Match: Gorgone Sees Positive Signs

This afternoon at the Centro Sportivo “Comunale” in Livigno, Catanzaro's squad engaged in a mixed internal match, structured into three 25-minute segments. Instead of the anticipated friendly, head coach Giorgio Gorgone opted to utilize this opportunity to explore various tactical solutions, making adjustments to player positions throughout the match.

In terms of scoring, goals were netted by Reita, Buso (penalty), Pafundi, and Koffi, who contributed two goals.

The initial lineups for the teams were as follows:

Catanzaro A: Pigliacelli; Frosinini, Antonini, Verrengia; Candela, Petriccione, Alesi, D’Alessandro; Pafundi, Di Francesco; Koffi.

Catanzaro B: Marietta; Ruggero, Bashi, Postiglione; Favasuli, Pompetti, Franky Tchaouna, Garnica; Buso, Reita; Arditi.

Esteves also participated in the match.

The team will have a free morning tomorrow, with a training session scheduled for the afternoon.

Following the internal match, coach Gorgone provided an initial assessment of the team's preparation, reflecting on the work accomplished during their training camp both in Catanzaro and at high altitude in Livigno. He noted the contrasting climatic conditions the players faced. "The boys have worked well both in Catanzaro and Livigno, despite the different weather conditions," he remarked, expressing satisfaction with the team’s approach.

Gorgone also highlighted the group's resilience, emphasizing their ability to maintain focus despite the typical distractions of the summer transfer market. "This is a dedicated group, and the rumors circulating during this period have not affected the players' commitment at all."

He offered positive feedback about the new additions to the squad, who have integrated seamlessly. "They arrived with enthusiasm and quickly aligned with the spirit expected of those who play for Catanzaro," the coach noted.

From a technical and athletic perspective, Gorgone urged caution in interpreting the current state of the team. He acknowledged that the training loads impact the squad's sharpness but emphasized that the priority at this stage is to build familiarity. "It’s important to work and get to know each other as much as possible," he explained, underscoring the significance of establishing a solid foundation for the upcoming season.

Among the aspects that pleased him the most, Gorgone pointed to the attitude and daily effort displayed by the players throughout the training camp. Regarding potential for improvement, he confidently stated, "There’s always room for growth in everything. Some players have left, and new ones have come in from different backgrounds, and the understanding between them will certainly need to develop."
