Famous symbology expert Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital, stricken with amnesia, and must collaborate with Dr. Sienna Brooks to regain his memory. Together, they will traverse Europe in a race against time to thwart a global conspiracy and prevent the unleashing of Hell and the great Dante himself...

Tom Hanks vs. a Virus

After Da Vinci Code (2006) and Angels & Demons (2009), director Ron Howard presents Inferno (2016). This is the third cinematic adventure drawn from Dan Brown's work. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Robert Langdon for the third time, this time alongside Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Ben Foster, and Omar Sy.

In this installment, the villain is played by Ben Foster, a man obsessed with Dante Alighieri's Inferno, determined to solve the problem of global overpopulation by unleashing a virus. As with the other films in the saga, a twisted plot will lead Langdon and Sienna around the world in search of a way to escape.

Third Film, Fourth Book

The Robert Langdon saga in cinema has always been filmed out of order. Da Vinci Code is the second novel but the first film to be released, Angels & Demons is the first novel but came out second, and Inferno is the fourth novel but the third feature film. The fourth installment, The Lost Symbol, will be adapted into a series by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie with Ashley Zuckerman as Robert Langdon (2021).

Before Dan Brown's convoluted trilogy, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks had already collaborated on Splash (1984) and Apollo 13 (1995). The Forrest Gump star and the Willow director negotiated for nearly a year before agreeing to shoot Inferno.

Inferno, tonight on NOVO19 at 9:10 PM.
