In light of the sixty-fifth edition of the Monte Carlo Festival, the editorial team at AlloCiné had the opportunity to sit down with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan to discuss Season 3 of The Walking Dead, Dead City!

Starting July 26, fans of AMC's flagship franchise will finally be able to discover Season 3 of The Walking Dead, Dead City. More than a year after the airing of the final episode of Season 2, the most loyal fans will be thrilled to learn what will happen to Maggie and Negan after their confrontation with La Dama.
During their appearance at the Monte Carlo Festival 2026, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan shared insights about the first episodes of this new chapter, which promises to be thrilling:
"The story picks up right where the finale left us, after all the tensions of the second season. Hershel is missing; he is in the hands of La Dama... or at least, that's what we believe. La Dama and the Croat are still around, more threatening than ever. At the beginning, we see our characters trying to regain control of the situation," reveals the actress portraying Maggie.
"Maggie and Negan Eventually Find a Common Purpose"
"By the way, since Maggie just stabbed Negan, he is still in the midst of recovery! We start this season with a bang, with quite a bit of resentment between them. Maggie tries to help him in her own way, but he doesn't see it that way at all. Nevertheless, they eventually find a common purpose," she confides before adding:
"This is where we witness a major turning point in their relationship. It's exciting for us to explore these new facets: we discover who they have become after going through all this together... I don't like to say they've 'turned the page,' because that's not really the case."
Jeffrey Dean Morgan adds: "It's true, you never really turn the page when you've seen your husband get murdered. But I think Maggie has found a way to cope with his presence."
"Negan is More Useful Alive Than Dead"
"She will never forgive him, that's for sure, but she has come to realize that he is more useful to her alive than dead. And it is out of this necessity that a sort of bond, almost a form of complicity, begins to develop between them."
Lauren Cohan concludes by addressing her co-star: "You summed it up very well earlier: their survival depends on their ability to work together. It’s this forced alliance that gives strength to their connection."
So, mark your calendars for July 26 to discover the continuation of The Walking Dead, Dead City on AMC.
