Hütter Confirms Young Star Baum Will Remain at Eintracht Frankfurt
Adi Hütter has confirmed that young talent Elias Baum will remain with Eintracht Frankfurt, dispelling transfer rumors and highlighting his potential in the team's defense.
Elias Baum, a promising 20-year-old talent, was previously rumored to be on his way out of Eintracht Frankfurt. However, head coach Adi Hütter has made a definitive statement regarding the young player's future with the team.
"We will keep him here. I see him as a dynamic full-back who comes from our own ranks and has been showing excellent performance in training," Hütter remarked following Frankfurt's 1-0 victory in a friendly against SV Waldhof Mannheim.
Baum played a crucial role in that match by assisting the only goal. Hütter expressed satisfaction with Baum's overall contribution, stating, "He was very committed, made many positive contributions, and also fulfilled his defensive duties."
BVB Reportedly Discussed Baum Internally
In recent weeks, Baum's name had been linked to potential transfers, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly expressing interest. According to Sky, Baum was mentioned during discussions among Dortmund's sporting leadership.
The initiative for this interest is believed to have come from BVB's sporting director Ole Book, who had previously brought Baum on loan from Frankfurt to SV Elversberg in the summer of 2024. At Elversberg, the right-back developed into one of the most sought-after defensive talents in the 2. Bundesliga.
Other clubs such as Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg have also been mentioned in connection with the Eintracht academy product. However, following Hütter's comments, it seems that all interested parties will need to look elsewhere for a new right-back.
New Opportunities Under Hütter
After returning to Frankfurt, Baum faced a challenging season. Under former coach Albert Riera, he managed only five competitive appearances, totaling 71 minutes on the pitch. His contract with the club runs until 2028.
With Hütter at the helm, defensive roles at Eintracht are being reassessed, seemingly favoring the homegrown talent. The Austrian coach employs a four-man defense with offensively inclined full-backs, a role Baum successfully filled during his time at Elversberg.
Following the departures of Rasmus Kristensen and Nathaniel Brown, there are openings in the Frankfurt backline for the full-back positions. Baum could potentially establish himself as Kristensen's successor on the right side.
