Arsenal and Newcastle Reach Agreement: €90 Million for Brazilian Star
Arsenal and Newcastle United have agreed on a transfer fee of €90 million for Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães, concluding months of negotiations.

The protracted negotiations surrounding Bruno Guimarães appear to have reached a conclusion, with Arsenal and Newcastle United finalizing a deal for the Brazilian midfielder.
According to reports from L'Équipe, both clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of approximately €90 million (£77 million). This development suggests that the transfer of the 28-year-old national player to the Gunners is now firmly in place after weeks of back-and-forth.
In recent weeks, Arsenal had made several bids to Newcastle, the latest being an offer of €82 million. However, the Magpies rejected all advances despite Guimarães expressing his desire to leave. With the newly agreed sum, it seems Newcastle has finally relented.
Guimarães joined Newcastle in January 2022 for €42.1 million from Olympique Lyon and quickly rose to the position of team captain at St James' Park. During the past season, he made 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists. His contract was set to run until 2028.
Lyon will also benefit from the transfer fee, as the French club secured a sell-on clause when Guimarães was sold in 2022, and they can expect to receive a significant amount from this deal, as per L'Équipe.
