In 2003, during the promotion of "The Return of the King," Dominic Monaghan decided to play a little prank on his Hobbit companion. Do you know this hilarious sequence?

When you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson over 20 years ago and adapted from the timeless work of J.R.R. Tolkien, it makes sense, after having rewatched the films multiple times, to explore the countless bonus features from the various DVD sets generously offered by the New Zealand filmmaker.

An Interview Like No Other

Through the making-ofs, featurettes, interviews, and bloopers, it quickly becomes clear that beyond having contributed to creating one of the greatest sagas in cinema, the actors of The Lord of the Rings experienced an absolutely unique human adventure, filled with laughter, genuine friendship, and true camaraderie.

This is exemplified by an interview like no other, filmed via video conference during the promotion of The Return of the King in 2003, during which Elijah Wood, who played Frodo, found himself having to answer a series of completely absurd questions posed by an anonymous German journalist.

Hobbit Prank

His interlocutor, whose face was masked, was none other than Dominic Monaghan, his mischievous companion who portrayed Merry in the trilogy. Armed with a thick accent and extraordinary eloquence, he asked his friend various completely outlandish questions, such as those about electronic music, wigs, or even Flipper the dolphin.

Initially impassive and patient, the actor who played Frodo eventually cracked, unable to maintain his seriousness any longer, and burst into laughter several times, before discovering the true identity of his interviewer at the end of the exchange.

If you are a die-hard fan of The Lord of the Rings and its actors, we can only recommend catching up on this legendary video, truly delightful when you're used to wandering in Middle-earth.
