Steven Seagal and Valérie Damidot: This Unlikely Encounter Happened, and at the TV Host's Place!
Valérie Damidot shares a surreal dinner experience with Steven Seagal, revealing unexpected encounters in her career and the actor's current status.

Invited to share her memories, Valérie Damidot recounted a completely surreal evening: a dinner among friends interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Steven Seagal at her home, accompanied by his entourage.

Known to the general public thanks to the show D&CO aired on M6 from 2006 to 2015, Valérie Damidot has long been one of the iconic faces of television entertainment in France.
Later, she joined TF1 with programs like La vie secrète des chats and Mon plus beau Noël. Today, she appears more sporadically on television, focusing on the stage and her show Valérie Damidot s’expose, which she has been performing across France since 2022.
In 2023, she mentioned her distance from the small screen: “It’s been a thousand years since I’ve been offered anything on TV, really,” she confided in Clique, adding about the network: “I think they don’t really know what to do with me. I think they don’t like me very much. I think they didn’t hire me for the right reasons. I believe they don’t really know where to place me.”

The Night Steven Seagal Invited Himself Unexpectedly
It was during an appearance on Europe 1 (via Télé-Loisirs) that the comedian shared this totally unexpected scene. It all began with a dinner among friends in her Paris apartment when a major surprise occurred. Steven Seagal, who was in Paris for a charity engagement, was initially supposed to be seen in another context. But the situation took an unforeseen turn.
“He was the godfather of a charity organization of a friend of mine. He had come to Paris; we had met several times before, but he showed up unexpectedly. I had a tiny apartment, I was with friends, we were having dinner, and suddenly my friend says to me: ‘We’re downstairs, let us in.’”
A Surreal Scene
The surprise became even more spectacular when the door opened.
“The guy showed up with his bodyguards, some Tibetans, his photographer, my friend. He stayed for twenty minutes, blessed my kids, and asked me how I was doing. He said: ‘I’m going to a restaurant, are you joining us?’ I said no because I had made dinner for my friends, and he left.”
A brief visit, but particularly memorable for the former host, who clearly did not anticipate such an intrusion into her private dinner.
An Unexpected End to the Evening
Faced with this impromptu invitation, Valérie Damidot chose to remain loyal to her guests: “I had invited my friends, and the guy came unexpectedly. If he had warned me beforehand, I could have canceled.”
But the evening didn’t end there. A few hours later, she eventually joined the group at another location: “I joined them later at his hotel. But don’t get carried away, I was with my boyfriend and my friend; it didn’t escalate.”
In hindsight, this story perfectly illustrates the contrast between Valérie Damidot's media life and the totally unpredictable encounters she has experienced in her career.
Even today, Steven Seagal remains a figure in American cinema, much more discreet and distanced from major Hollywood productions, while Valérie Damidot continues her career between stage performances, humor, and occasional media appearances.
An unlikely encounter, etched in the memories of the host, and one of her most frequently recounted anecdotes in interviews.
What is Steven Seagal Up To?
Steven Seagal, a former action movie star of the 90s and rival to Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, made his mark in Hollywood in the late 80s with films like Under Siege and Nico. After a period of success, his career declined in the 90s despite some hits like Out for a Kill (2001), before shifting towards low-budget productions.
In the 2000s, he distanced himself from major productions and multiplied films aimed at the video market. An attempt to return in Machete in 2010 did not sustainably revive his career.
More recently, he has distanced himself from American cinema, adopted Russian and Serbian nationalities, and appears mainly in media and political contexts. Since 2019, he has not been seen on screen, fueling retirement rumors without official confirmation.
Today, he embodies a figure far removed from Hollywood, balancing between occasional media activities and a retracted film career.
